Lehigh Carbon Community College

Placement testing allows LCCC to appropriately place students in classes that they are prepared for to maximize success. Placement testing does not affect admission to the college. LCCC offers courses in English, Math, and Reading at many levels to meet student needs and to help them develop the skills they need to reach their goals. All new students need to complete placement testing or submit documentation of their academic history to receive testing exemptions and waivers before registering for classes.

Taking the Placement Test
Students who need to complete placement testing can do so remotely or at an LCCC location. If you are a recent high school graduate, review the list of testing exemptions to see if you qualify for a waiver. Official documents should be sent to the Registration Office. You can also submit unofficial electronic copies to the Testing Center for exemptions.

Remote Testing
To test remotely you must have a computer or laptop with a webcam. You cannot complete placement testing on a tablet or phone. You must also be able to log into your myLCCC account. Please email admissions@orkexpo.net with the following information for remote testing:

  • your full name
  • L# (use your birth date if you do not know your L#)
  • the term you plan to start classes (e.g. Spring 2021)
  • your major

Remote testing cannot be set up for the same day that you submit your request. You will receive instructions for remote testing and the required passwords with the time your test will become available. Once your test is available you can take it at any time – it is available 24/7.

Troubleshooting Tips for Remote Placement Testing

On Campus Testing
Placement tests are not timed.  Plan on approximately 1 hour per subject.  If you are taking the English, Math, and Reading placement tests, it will take approximately 2-3 hours.  To test at one of our locations you must schedule a testing appointment. If you do not have your myLCCC username and password you will need to create an account in the scheduling system to make your appointment.

For Main Campus in Schnecksville:

For the Donley Center in Allentown:

For the Morgan Center in Tamaqua:

Retesting
Students are allowed to retest in English, Reading and ESL one time at no charge. You must wait 48 hours before retesting and should use that time to prepare for your retest. A third and final attempt is allowed with a $10 fee for each section. Fees must be paid to the Business Office prior to testing. To retest in Biology or Chemistry, students must wait a minimum of 30 days before taking the exam again. Third attempts are not allowed.

Students who wish to retest should contact the Testing Center directly at testingcenter@orkexpo.net.
